Alliant Energy hits the Gold Standard in Sheboygan
New Sheboygan Operations center receives LEED® certification
MADISON, WI – June 28, 2010 – Literally building on its commitment to the environment, Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL), an Alliant Energy company, is very pleased to announce its new Operations Center in Sheboygan has attained LEED® Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is a performance-oriented rating system created by the USGBC. Projects earn points for satisfying criteria designed to address specific environmental impacts inherent to the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings.
“At Alliant Energy we strive to operate all of our facilities in a sustainable manner. When we build new facilities, like the Sheboygan Operations Center, we have a great opportunity to build them as green as possible,” explains Barbara Swan, President-WPL. “We look closely at a variety of elements for all new facilities, including energy and water efficiency, resource conservation, low operating costs and overall environmental footprint.”

Alliant Energy currently pursues LEED certification in all new construction projects. The company also works with business customers on their construction projects to help them attain LEED certification.
